Maeshima Ami (前島亜美) was born on November 22, 1997 in Saitama, Japan. She is the voice actress of Maruyama Aya in BanG Dream!, her debut role. She is currently affiliated with Voice Kit.
Background[]
Ami had been interested in idols ever since elementary school, and her favorite group was Berryz Kobo of Hello Project!, with her favorite member being Tsugunaga Momoko.
Ami is a former member and leader of an idol group, SUPER☆GiRLS. She passed avex's idol audition on June 12, 2010, and became a member of SUPER☆GiRLS, she was also their youngest member. Ami was appointed as their leader in 2016. In 2011 she won the 53rd Japan Record Awards Newcomer Award.[1]
In 2011, she started taking on solo activities in parallel with the SUPER☆GiRLS activities, releasing exclusive modeling and solo photo collections for Pichi Lemon, performing in various TV dramas, and filming commercials. She has also performed in various musicals ever since 2015.
Ami graduated on March 31, 2017, from SUPER GiRLS and iDOL Street in order to become a voice actress.[2]
She used to be affiliated with Avex Management from June 2010 to September 2013 until switching to Avex Vanguard; she was affiliated with them from October 2013 to March 2017. After March 2017, she went back to being affiliated with Avex Management, where she remained until November 30, 2022, when her contract with them was terminated. On September 1, 2023, she announced that she is now affiliated with Voice Kit.
She was one of the co-hosts of Bandori! TV ever since the 22th episode, replacing Ozaki Yuka, and was also a frequent guest on the HaroHapi CiRCLE Broadcasting Station.

Personality & Hobbies[]
Ami's hobbies include reading, going to planetariums and theater, watching anime, playing with cats, solving sudokus and puzzles, and collecting Edo Kiriko products.[3][4][5] She also loves reading shounen manga (especially Shounen Jump series).[6] Her favorite entertainers are Abe Sadao and Oizumi Yo. One of her special skills is karate, which she has practiced since 4th grade.[7] Some of her other special skills also include stage combat, tile breaking and dancing. Her favorite foods are sweet things and cellophane noodles. Her least favorite foods are bitter things.
She loves Aya very much and has a very similar personality to her. Despite this she claims that she is Aya without the clumsiness or that she's not an airhead like Aya. Similarly to Aya as well she is very active on social media, especially on her Twitter, and also had her own YouTube channel where she frequently uploaded videos.
She owns a cat named Roi.[8]
Health Issues[]
Starting from September 2022, she had cancelled all of her activities and live appearances due to poor physical health. On November 30, 2022, her agency announced that she will step down from both her roles as Aya and Ibuki, as well as her seiyuu and idol activities.[9][10] On the same day, she posted her own tweet, confirming that she was in fact in poor health and that she will tell everything after she has managed to recover.[11]
On September 1, 2023, Ami announced that she had recovered, and that she would continue voicing Aya.[12][13]

- In the second Hatsune Miku collaboration stream, Ami mentioned that she used to listen to Karakuri Pierrot a lot when she was in high school.

- Previously she had an official fanclub called Amistragram, as well as another fan club called AmitaMina on her former official website, which closed down on February 28, 2023 together with the website.
- She and Uesaka Sumire are part of the same agency.
